In May Google made available journey planning for local buses in Google Maps. This means that Google Maps now offers complete complete public transport journey planning for the UK. On hearing this I was a little disappointed as how Google Maps works now is very similar to what I'm hoping to achieve with bustraintimes.co.uk. However, I believe it may still be useful to carry on this project as I may be able to offer some new or different features. Also Transport Direct, the first original public transport planning site to come to the UK, was shut down earlier this month. This brought about people lamenting it's loss which indicates people may still be interested in an alternative.
Progress on bustraintimes.co.uk has been slow as the TNDS Transxchange format is difficult to use, however I have got a very basic route planner working for local buses. I'm hoping to launch a beta version at some point soon for local buses only.
